Air Quality Modeling
By using clean natural gas and a very efficient combined cycle combustion electricity production process, greenhouse gas and other emissions will be substantially below those of current coal-fired power stations.

The fuel combustion system is designed to substantially reduce NOx emissions. Post-combustion processes are being designed to incorporate the latest in proven advances to ensure that NOx emissions rates are a fraction (less than 10 percent) of the regulated requirements.

Together, Goreway and Southdown Stations (a sister facility proposed for Mississauga) will have the capability to produce more than 8 percent of Ontario’s electricity needs while emitting less than 1.0 per cent of the annual NOx and less than 0.05 per cent of the annual sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions allowed under Ontario’s newly proposed environmental regulations for existing coal- and oil-fired power plants.
